It’s not too late!
Although the official KAL with live Zooms is over, you can still join and get access to all the recordings and emails which are FULL of helpful tips and tricks, as well as the Ravelry Group for our community of KALers! The Kathmandu sweater is inspired by the colourful Hippie era in the 60’s and 70’s. Kathmandu, Nepal was a popular destination for many hippies in so-called “hippie trails” at this time, and a colourful sweater in the mountains was mandatory.
This sweater pattern by Linka Neumann is written to be knit in the round from the bottom up, but WE HAVE RE-WRITTEN THE PATTERN NOTES TO BE KNIT TOP DOWN in the round, so you can try it on as you go, and tailor the length and fit to suit you!
As always, we’ve also made other (optional) tweaks to the pattern, which will all be explained as we go.
We LOVE this pattern for playing with a custom palette and practising your colourwork, and making a Winter sweater that will be uniquely you!
Level of difficulty and skills required
Adventurous Intermediate. Our KAL is guided, which means we will be offering tips and advice as we go, but you definitely need to be ready to tackle things like:
• chart-reading
• stranded colourwork
• (optional) ladderback jacquard technique
• (optional) short rows
• tubular cast on
• sewn bind offWe will be on hand to help you choose the perfect yarns and colours for your sweater.
Tribe KALs are all about community, yarns friendships, support and laughs. We keep doing them because they are so much fun! Try to keep your Friday evenings free during the KAL so you can get the most out of the KAL. Whilst there is a good amount of technique discussed during the sessions, the idea is more of a “knit-along” as opposed to workshops. It’s more of a social thing 😁!
Everyone is welcome, but bear in mind the skill level.
